Are you in the off-trade?

We work with many of the UK’s top supermarkets and wine retailers, big and small. Whatever your requirements we’ll try our best to offer solutions and to exceed expectations along the way. To give you a taste for what we can offer, we thought we’d share a few of the projects that our team has been working on recently.

Two (or three) heads are better than one!

Wherever possible we love to work with our customers to identify opportunities to bring something new and innovative to the UK consumers.

Using Dominique’s unrivalled knowledge of France and French wines, we recently undertook a dedicated day’s in-depth tasting and analysis with the wine buyer at one of the UK’s major supermarkets to identify and discuss major opportunities for their customers. Putting our heads together for a day means we can provide ideas, insight and expertise – not just the wines themselves; all the better for consumers who get to try new wines as a result.

Translating UK success globally

We love nothing more than a team challenge and using our 30 years of wine experience to help businesses globally develop their wine portfolios. We are currently working with one of our export customers, a large supermarket chain, to help them implement an own label range of wines. There is so much more to a successful wine than great liquid (although that helps!) We have the expertise within Thierry’s across QC, logistics, branding and label design to make sure that all bases are covered and that a new launch goes without a hitch. As well as pulling on our UK expertise in this area it gives us an opportunity to get the team together and create something new for a whole country of new consumers.

Building market-leading brands

Our name may not be on the label, but we are very proud to be behind the development of many of the UK’s leading customer own label wines.

However, we don’t just develop own-label wines for our customers, we also work to drive UK sales of our producer’s brands. Take for example Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, we have been working with the team in France for over 20 years, helping to build Feuillatte into one of the UK’s leading champagne brands.

Food and Wine matching

Using consumer insights to identify incremental opportunities for our customers and new news for consumers is high on our agenda. One recent project picked up the consumer trend for discovering new food and wine matches to find a perfect dessert wine partner for Morrison’s luxury Christmas pudding. The result? A delicious Mont Tauch Maury Reserve 2001 with Morrisons 12 month aged “The Best Christmas Pudding”.

Increasing Fairtrade choice for Consumers

We’ve been working closely with The Co-operative, one of the UK’s leading Fairtrade supportive retailers, to strengthen their Fairtrade offering. We partnered the Co-operative with Bosman, an amazing winery in South Africa, to further build on their support for their farmers in Africa, providing amongst other things, good working conditions, schooling, computers, buses to schools and after school clubs.  This year, through Bosman wines, the Co-operative and their customers will raise around £100k for the South African workers and their children.

Better, for less

We are continually working with our partner wineries to make new wines more accessible for UK consumers. One of our success stories in doing this was working with Majestic to bring to the UK a Domaine de la Tranquilite VDP Cabernet Sauvignon 2005. Through working closely with our producer we were able to create an amazing Bernard Magrez wine at a fraction of its normal price – offering consumers not only excellent value for money but also the opportunity to try a more premium wine at an accessible price point. Consumers loved the proposition – within six months of launch the wine was a total sell out.

Disrupting convention at London Iternational Wine Fair 2011!

The idea behind this project came from the team brainstorming how we could really do something different in the trade, bringing the consumer to the heart of our work. Together we dreamed up the unprecedented and innovative idea of conceiving, blending and marketing a new wine brand over the course of the 3 days of the London fair. Not only that, but the wine we created was a pan European blend from 3 of our top winemakers from France, Italy and Austria, tasted by and ultimately selected by visitors to the fair. This activity was a first within wine, being streamed live on the internet to a host of wine bloggers and consumers across the country. The name 'Disrupt' and the label were co-created with an audience of consumers with suggestions flooding in on Twitter. Within days the final product was for sale on Naked Wines website. Amazing - 3 days a new wine was born!
